Rewire your brain with EMDR. Heal gently with IFS
Are you feeling stuck? Trapped in your career? In midlife? In your relationship with your partner or yourself?
Are you caught in loops of negative beliefs like: "I'm not good enough... I don't matter... I'm not loveable"? Feeling helpless? Hopeless?
The power of these thoughts can multiply when they gang up on you with your body - a tightening in your throat, a pit in your stomach, an urge to crumple your body so you won't be seen or heard.
The bad news is these thoughts and feelings have all been learned and they can stay with you long after abuse and neglect have passed.
The good news is since they've all been learned, they can also be unlearned. And we can work together to relearn so you can feel more confident and move forward in your life.
During my time in private practice and community service centers in Vancouver, Canada, I found the people I worked with benefited when I used multiple therapeutic approaches. That’s because they often experienced more than one challenge at the same time. I also found people resonated with certain approaches more than others.
One of the main therapies I use is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). It's a deep and fast way of getting to the core of people's challenges because it works on a neurological level. The theory behind EMDR is that by using bilateral stimulation movements we can access memories, thoughts, body sensations and emotions that have been stored separately and locked in so they can be reprocessed.
I also use Internal Family Systems (IFS), a gentle way of making contact with your Self – a place of inner calm – and healing wounded parts. This happens when parts that have taken on extreme roles to protect themselves or others (usually since childhood) learn to take on more helpful roles.
Together, we can explore what works for you.

As a therapeutic approach originally developed to support survivors of trauma, EMDR is particularly suited to support Palestinians living with the ongoing trauma of what's going on back home.
If you're afraid for your family – feeling jumpy and easily startled, waking up in a sweat from nightmares, feeling exhausted from raw emotions or shutdown and numb, I understand. These are some of the symptoms of primary trauma.
Or are you experiencing the more insidious secondary trauma? The quiet anger that comes from unacknowledged injustice. Or speaking out but being gaslit? The sad irony is you left home because you weren’t safe there. You were told you would be safe outside. But now you feel silenced and trapped.
If what you read resonates with you, there is a safe place for you. A place where you will be welcomed, accepted and invited to share and rewrite your story.
My heart and thoughts go out to all Palestinians and their families.
I’m all too familiar with the feeling of fear when hearing about fighting and bombings back home in the news and calling and texting family to make sure everyone is safe. And the dreaded wait when you can’t get through. The sinking feeling of being halfway across the world and feeling all you can do is hope and pray.
I’m fortunate that my family and I have been able to stay safe during war – during the civil war in Lebanon, the Gulf War in Kuwait and the ongoing conflicts in Lebanon. However, I know many of you haven’t been so fortunate. That’s why I want to offer my experience and skills to support you in your difficult time.
I'm happy to say I'm in a better place today because I've learned to listen to what my parts are telling me.
For years I felt depressed, anxious and stuck. Depressed because I wasn't happy with where I was in life. Anxious because I knew I needed to make a change but didn't know how. And stuck because I didn't think I had options. I had little energy to do things and my body felt heavy, yet I felt restless and agitated. And I would find myself stuck in repetitive and negative thought loops that left me feeling mentally exhausted and physically drained.
Now I feel more comfortable in my own skin and settled with a meaningful career supporting others. And I want to help you see how your life can be different, so you don't feel depressed, anxious and stuck.
